Elementor gets a bad reputation for slow sites, but in my experience the builder is rarely the real problem. Heavy images, too many plugins and careless layouts are. Here is the routine I follow on every project.
Start with a light foundation
Use a lean theme, install only the plugins the site truly needs, and pick hosting that is fast before you add any content. A fast base makes everything after it easier.
Keep the layout simple
- Use containers instead of deeply nested sections and columns.
- Reuse global colors and fonts so styles stay consistent and small.
- Avoid stacking animations on every element. Pick one or two moments that matter.
Treat images as the biggest cost
Resize images to the size they are actually shown, use modern formats like WebP or AVIF, and lazy-load everything below the first screen. This single step often gives the largest speed gain.
Speed is a feature. Visitors feel it before they read a single word.
Test before you hand over
Run the page through a speed test on mobile, fix the biggest items first, and test again. Small, repeated fixes beat one big rebuild.
